Product Description

Primary E is exactly the same as the current Primary, except we’ve replaced the DC power supply, AC generator PCB and 9V motor with the old 230V motor. Eliminating these parts maintains a hi-fi grade performance but reduces the price significantly for better value.

Incredible Value

Like when the original, now iconic, Debut turntable burst onto the scene in 1999, the Primary E has been designed to offer a hi-fi friendly alternative to vinyl music lovers who are limited by their budget. While the affordable turntable market is heavily populated with cheap, plastic-based designs with flimsy tonearms and sub-par cartridges that struggle to perform to a high standard, the Primary E is a reliable, made-in-Europe product designed by a leading analogue audio company.

Direct-wired Motor

Pro-Ject have updated the Primary in order to make it more affordable than ever before, without losing the quality fans of the brand have come to expect. Offering exactly the same features and performance as the multi-award winning Primary record player, the Primary E is available for this price because of its direct-wired 230V motor. The quiet-running, stable motor is direct-fed to the mains and has been proven to work to a high standard on other popular Pro-Ject designs such as the original, award-winning Debut Carbon - reducing the need for i

Signal Processing

By removing the need for an external wall-wart power supply, the Primary E eliminates the need for any additional internal power signal processing but still retains a quiet, consistent motor rotation. The motor itself powers the same perimeter drive belt system as the original Primary. The end result of this change is a turntable that still sounds like a true piece of hi-fi, but that costs less than ever before.

Pre-configured

The Primary E's 8.6" aluminium tonearm, taken from the Elemental, uses sapphire bearings for optimal tracking across a record side. The tonearm is designed specifically for use with the supplied Ortofon OM pick-up cartridge, and tracking force and anti-skate is pre-configured to play straight out of the box with no fiddly setup.

Great Aesthetics

The overall aesthetic of the Primary E takes inspiration from the Essential II and has a sleek, retro appeal thanks to its consistent matte black finish. The included detachable dust cover also brings extra convenience and protection when the turntable is not in use. The Primary E is terminated with RCA cables for direct connection to a Moving-Magnet phono stage. It shares the Essential II’s high-quality wood construction and the purpose-designed wood platter/felt mat combination for a lively, involving sound performance. The plinth is finished in matte black and the added benefit of this layout is in the included detachable dust cover.

Uncomplicated

The Primary E turntable proves that hi-fi quality turntables don’t need to be complicated. Simply install the belt and connect it to a system with an MM phono stage in order to enjoy vinyl playback on an affordable device that won’t diminish your records. Though it’s simple and safe, the Primary E exceeds expectations by delivering an audio performance that gets your foot tapping and gives a real introduction to high-quality two-channel hi-fi.
